Also I misinterpreted the word "wires" in your heading and thought it had something to do with electricity:) Beautiful hat! Keep warm, and missing you in Maryland.

Re: My crocheting hits the wires&#8230;

Thanks, Marri! :-)

Re: My crocheting hits the wires&#8230;

this is all around awesome!

Re: Darkness Falls (Or, Plus ça change&#8230;)

That's great! I think a lot of people here use those lights. I don't have one. New Hampshire is beautiful, and I think actually you get a much more harsh winter than we do on the Alaskan coast. We very rarely get sub-freezing temperatures. I've never been to the Alaskan interior. Now that's cold!

Re: Darkness Falls (Or, Plus ça change&#8230;)

I too have a problem with the dark and fell very depressed during this time of year. I'm in N.H. which can't compare to where you are. But...I just bought a seasonal light to sit by for a half an hour every day. After 5 days I'm feeling much better. It is working. It's the best $40.00 I've spent in a long time.

Re: A New Stitch Dictionary! I'm always fascinated by where people get inspiration and what pushes them to pick up the hook and get started. If it's deconstructing someone's pattern, great! Some of us learn best by taking things apart and putting them back together.

Re: Originality and Fair Use (From the what was she thinking? file)

Very thoughtful post here on an important issue in the crafting community. Typically, when a pattern "demonstrates" a stitch, it doesn't give enough info for the self-taught, like me, and so stitch dictionaries are my savior!

Re: Originality and Fair Use (From the what was she thinking? file)

Thanks! I think you're right--if the majority of people who see your stuff are telling you how they'd like to make it themselves, then you have a problem with your business model--you haven't found the right customers.

Re: Originality and Fair Use (From the what was she thinking? file)

Thanks, Jonelle. Yes. I think it's easier to approach people with a positive attitude even if it seems like they're infringing on your intellectual property. It's probably easier to enlighten them if they're not put off by being chided. I appreciate your comment!

Re: A New Stitch Dictionary! I agree with your points. In the global market place, this is a topic that is more and more difficult to deal with. <br>Pinterest is such a fantastic resource and source of inspiration, surely though if people are copying from it they could have copied from the shop's photos and for every person who copies it from pinterest there will be a buyer who finds it through pinterest.

Re: A New Stitch Dictionary!
